Questions We Think You'll Ask
Don't just trust us. Ask us.
Products should be easy to understand. Here are the questions we'd want answered before putting a product into our own diet.
The difficult questions.
Ingredients, protein, soy, sattu, preparation, clumping, allergens and everything in between. If you can't find your question here, ask us directly.
What is the difference between PRO-20, PRO-50 and PRO-90?
They are three different formulations designed around different nutritional purposes.
- PRO-20 Sattu: 100% roasted black chickpea.
- PRO-50 Sattu: 60% roasted Bengal gram sattu + 40% soy protein.
- PRO-90 Soy Protein: 100% soy protein isolate.
In simple terms: PRO-20 stays closest to traditional sattu, PRO-50 is a higher-protein sattu formulation, and PRO-90 is concentrated protein.
Is PRO-50 actually sattu or is it protein powder?
PRO-50 is deliberately a combination of both ideas, but it should not be confused with traditional 100% sattu.
Its formulation is 60% roasted Bengal gram sattu + 40% soy protein.
The sattu provides the traditional food base, while soy protein increases the protein concentration.
Why did you create PRO-50 instead of simply selling regular sattu?
Traditional sattu already has nutritional value. The idea behind PRO-50 was not to replace it, but to create a version for people who specifically want a higher-protein formulation while keeping the familiar sattu foundation.
The concept is simple: keep the sattu you know, thoughtfully upgrade the protein. Why is PRO-90 so different from PRO-50?
Because they are designed around different nutritional purposes.
PRO-50 is a blend of sattu and soy protein. PRO-90 is 100% soy protein isolate.
PRO-90 therefore focuses much more directly on concentrated protein, while PRO-50 retains a substantial sattu component.
What exactly is inside PRO-20 Sattu?
The ingredient declaration is straightforward: 100% roasted black chickpea.
There is no soy protein intentionally added to the formulation.
The product is manufactured in a facility that also processes soy products, which is why the packaging carries an allergen cross-contact statement.
What exactly is inside PRO-50 Sattu?
PRO-50 Original is made from:
60% Roasted Bengal Gram Chana Sattu + 40% Soy ProteinThe Jeera version uses the same core formulation with roasted cumin added for flavour.
Why do you use soy protein isolate?
Soy protein isolate allows us to provide a much higher concentration of protein than whole soybeans.
In PRO-50 it is used to increase the protein density of the sattu formulation. In PRO-90 it is the sole primary ingredient.
Is soy protein a complete protein?
Soy protein contains all nine essential amino acids. These are amino acids that the body cannot make in sufficient amounts and therefore needs to obtain through the diet.
That is one reason soy is widely used as a plant-based protein source.
Why is cumin added to PRO-50 Jeera?
Primarily for flavour.
Roasted cumin gives the Jeera version its familiar earthy, warm character without turning the product into a complicated flavoured powder.
The formulation contains approximately 1% roasted cumin.
Does PRO-50 really contain 50g protein per 100g?
The PRO-50 sample tested by FARE Labs contained 50.01g protein per 100g.
That laboratory result applies to the sample tested. It should not be interpreted as a guarantee that every future batch will have exactly the same analytical value.
If PRO-50 has 50g protein per 100g, how much protein do I get in one serving?
Based on the current 35g serving information, the product provides approximately 17.5g protein per serving when using the 50g-per-100g figure.
Always use the nutrition panel on your particular pack as the final reference for the declared serving value.
Why does PRO-20 have much less protein than PRO-50?
Because the formulations are fundamentally different.
PRO-20 is 100% roasted black chickpea. PRO-50 contains 40% soy protein specifically added to increase its protein concentration.
PRO-20 is therefore better understood as a traditional pulse-based food rather than a concentrated protein product.
Why does PRO-90 contain much more protein in a smaller serving?
PRO-90 is made from 100% soy protein isolate.
The protein has already been concentrated from the original soybean material, so the finished powder has a much higher protein density than a whole pulse-based flour.
The current product information declares 31g protein per 35g serving.
Is more protein automatically better?
Not necessarily.
Protein is one part of nutrition. The right product depends on what you're trying to add to your overall diet.
PRO-20 provides a broader pulse-based nutritional profile. PRO-50 increases protein while retaining a sattu base. PRO-90 is specifically concentrated around protein.
We don't believe one number tells the entire story of a food.Does PRO-20 contain carbohydrates even though it is a protein food?
Yes.
PRO-20 is made from whole roasted black chickpea, so it naturally contains carbohydrates along with protein, dietary fibre and other nutrients.
Its current product information declares approximately 62.2g carbohydrate per 100g.
Do your products contain added sugar?
The current product formulations are designed without intentionally added sugar.
This does not necessarily mean the nutrition panel will always show zero total sugars, because naturally occurring sugars can be present in the ingredients.
For example, the current PRO-20 information declares total sugars below 0.4g per 100g, while PRO-50 and PRO-90 have their own declared total-sugar values.
How should I consume PRO-50?
PRO-50 can be mixed with water or milk and can also be incorporated into foods and recipes.
- Shakes
- Smoothies
- Sattu drinks
- Chillas
- Oats
- Other recipes
The amount of liquid can be adjusted according to the consistency you prefer.
Can I cook or bake with PRO-90?
Yes. PRO-90 can be incorporated into foods such as smoothies, oats and suitable recipes.
However, the easiest way to use it is to mix it into a beverage or a prepared food rather than treating it as a flour replacement in every recipe.
Why does protein powder sometimes form small lumps?
Small lumps or clumps can naturally occur in powdered products, particularly when moisture, storage conditions or mixing conditions cause particles to stick together.
A small amount of clumping does not automatically mean the product has spoiled.
Store the product in a cool, dry place, keep moisture away, and shake or stir thoroughly when preparing it.Can I mix these products with milk instead of water?
Yes.
PRO-50 and PRO-90 can be mixed with milk as well as water. Keep in mind that milk will contribute its own calories, protein, carbohydrate and fat to the final drink.
Does PRO-20 contain soy?
Soy is not an intentional ingredient in PRO-20. The declared ingredient is 100% roasted black chickpea.
However, PRO-20 is manufactured in a facility that also processes soy products. The package therefore carries an appropriate cross-contact statement.
If you have a soy allergy, always consider the allergen declaration on the actual pack before consuming.Do PRO-50 and PRO-90 contain soy?
Yes.
Soy protein is an intentional ingredient in both products.
- PRO-50: 40% soy protein in the formulation.
- PRO-90: 100% soy protein isolate.
Anyone with a soy allergy should avoid these products.
Are these products gluten-free?
We do not recommend assuming a gluten-free claim solely from the ingredient list.
PRO-20's declared ingredient is black chickpea, while PRO-50 and PRO-90 use chickpea/sattu and soy protein respectively. However, gluten-free status also depends on sourcing, manufacturing and cross-contact controls.
If you require a medically necessary gluten-free diet, rely on the specific allergen and manufacturing information provided for the product you are purchasing. Can children, pregnant women or breastfeeding mothers consume these products?
Our current product packaging carries a precautionary statement that these products are not intended for pregnant or lactating women and advises consulting a doctor if taking medication.
These products are not specifically formulated as pregnancy, lactation or paediatric nutrition products.
For a child, pregnancy or breastfeeding, dietary choices should be discussed with an appropriate healthcare professional rather than relying on a general product FAQ.
Why should I trust the numbers on your website?
You shouldn't have to trust a brand blindly.
That's why we separate declared product information from laboratory results and try to explain where each number comes from.
For example, our PRO-50 laboratory report recorded 50.01g protein per 100g and 8.48g dietary fibre per 100g in the tested sample.
But a laboratory result applies to the sample tested. It is not a promise that every future production batch will have exactly identical analytical values.
Our approach is simple: read the label, look at the numbers, understand the ingredients, and ask questions. If you have a question, ask it.
We don't expect you to buy something you don't understand. Read the label. Question the numbers. Know what's inside.
